LOS ANGELES, CA (May 2006) – In a city where looking good is the norm and careers are fleeting, very few can match the stunning attributes – intelligence, poise, creativity and sheer natural splendor – of model/actress Monica Olsen. Having spent years in front of the camera and soon to be a second time mom, the statuesque Canadian beauty sought out skin care products that were organically and environmentally pure. She couldn’t find anything and so she decided to create her own.

HAIR by Monica™, set to debut this month online (www.skinbymonica.com) and in select boutiques and salons. The moderately priced line consists of a shampoo, conditioner, shield and shine, which protects the hair against chemical exposure, heat, ironing or curling, colors and highlighting. The fragrances are light, clean and refreshing, and devoid of any heavy perfumes or man-made preservatives. The line also includes wet gel and super hold gel. Hair by Monica is a unique blend of essential extracts, vitamins and full spectrum proteins free of sodium laurel sulfate and harmful ingredients which are contained in many shampoos and strip the hair of its natural vitality and softness.
HAIR by Monica™ is being developed and produced in the United States. As president of the company, Olsen oversees product development and marketing. She created her signature line because she could never find affordable products on the market that were truly natural.
“My career as a fashion model enabled me to travel and live all over the world,” says Olsen. “One of the perks is having access to the most talented people in the beauty and skin care business. Over the years, I kept a beauty diary and retained some great tips from these experts. I definitely incorporated that experience into my own line.”
Monica Olsen began modeling at the age of 14 when she was discovered at a local charity fashion event. Olsen has modeled for such leading magazines as Elle and Cosmopolitan. She also has made guest appearances on a number of talk shows, including Howard Stern.
A budding actress, Olsen recently appeared in the star-studded comedy “The Hot Chick” starring Rachel McAdams, Rob Schneider and Adam Sandler. She also shot a commercial for Formula1 that aired in Europe. And while she continues to land modeling jobs, Olsen is pursuing a career in film and television, having recently graduated from the New York Film Academy.
In addition to modeling and acting, Olsen is mother to a beautiful one year old girl with a second child on the way. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter. The accomplished actor/entrepreneur also speaks 5 languages and is working to master Russian and Italian.
Hair by Monica is the first in a series of truly natural skin care products to be launched this year by model/actress Monica Olsen.
